CSR - Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility
CSR - Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility of VM Tarm
BACKGROUND
Inspired by the "United Nations Global Compact", the board of
directors of VM Tarm a/s has worked out a policy concerning
"Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility" (CSR).
The UN Global Compact is the major initiative of the world for the
social responsibility of the companies. This is an international
initiative started by the UN intending to involve private companies
in the solution of some of the large social and environmental
challenges following the globalization. Global Compact enables
companies all over the world to take active part in the solution of
these challenges.
CSR may contain a lot of widely different initiatives. As an
example we might mention improvement of health and education for
employees, improvement within the environmental and climate area,
support to international NGOs working with development aid as well
as development of the local community connected to the
company.
(NGO = Non-Governmental Organizations, a total term for a number of
large or small private, voluntary organisations with its own
special area of interest).
